Our top 5 villains of all time…muhahahahaha!
Johnny’s
- Darth Vader
- Lex Luthor (Gene Hackman)
- John Doe (Kevin Spacey) from Se7en
- Mr. Smith from ‘The Matrix’
- Joker (Heath Leger)
Jeff’s -Well TK took half my favorites but a couple of them I have to give props to, so at the risk of looking unoriginal, here we go..
- The Joker – Yeah, the Dark Knight, you can’t top this one.
- Emperor Palpatine – Sure, Darth Vader was bad, but this was the man behind the man.
- Hannibal Lector – Another one of TK’s but Anthony Hopkins was just too chilling to leave of the list.
- Keyser Söze- Not your typical bad guy, but The Usual Suspects isn’t your typical movie either.
- Syndrome – From a great movie The Incredibles, and if anything else, for resembling a likeness to yours’ truly.
Scott’s
- HAL-9000 (2001) – He killed the entire crew because he couldn’t lie to them. Frightening in his ethical inflexibility.
- MCP (Tron) – An intelligent computer system bent on assimilating every other computer system in the world.
- The Borg (Star Trek: First Contact) – Speaking of assimilation, here’s a race of hive-minded, cybernetic organisms terrifyingly dedicated to perfecting themselves. My kind of peeps.
- Agent Smith (The Matrix) – Tell me, Mr Baggins, what good is a ring if you are unable to wear it? (sorry, a little movie cross pollenization). Creepy, sinister, powerful, and a sharp dresser.
- Samuel L. Jackson (Unbreakable) – Mr Glass makes it into my list as the only fully human villain. Everything he did, he did only to find out who he was.
Tony’s
- Since I am the first to input my list, I will steal the easy answer- Heath Leger’s Joker. Not only was he terrifying but also vulnerable and scarred. A master performance that deserved the Academy Award.
- Ricardo Montalban’s Khan Noonien Singh fom Star Trek II comes in at #2. Powerful, complex, and calculating. He was the Joker of deep space!
- I know this is another easy pick- Hannible Lector from Silence of the Lambs. How could someone behind bars still be so frightening? Gave me nightmares for a weeks.
- Not as psychotic as the others but a great villain- Hans Gruber from Die Hard. He is the prototype villain by which all other action baddies are measured. “Shoot the glash!…”
- My not so predictble villian- Miranda Priestly (Merryl Streep) from Devil Wears Prada. She is the archetype ice queen. No blood, violence, or gore, she just kills you with her lethal stare!
Bear’s
- Darth Vader
- Carter Burke (Paul Reiser) – Aliens
- Billy Mitchell - The King of Kong
- Anton Chigurh - No Country for Old Men
- Gollum

1) HAL-900 – (2001: A Space Odyssey)
2) Daniel Plainview / Eli Sunday – (There Will Be Blood)
3) Nurse Ratchett – (One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest)
4) Diane Christiansen – (Network)
5) Michael Corleone – (The Godfather)
