Green Lantern Trailer #4 and Wondercon Footage
I have to admit that Green Lantern is shaping up to exceed my expectations. Early looks at the costume and teaser really turned me off, but the last two trailers have given me much hope. Take a look below.

Green Lantern Trailer #2
This past weekend, a few of us Babblers were able to attend WonderCon in San Francisco. Even though this is the younger brother of San Diego Comic Con, this convention still released some great material from Cowboys & Aliens, ThunderCats, and the new Green Lantern Trailer. We were all pretty skeptical after seeing the first trailer but this new version is more promising. What do you think? Can you resist the green lantern’s might?

I have to say that this movie is shaping up to be pretty cool. If you saw the trailer at comic con you know what I mean. Don’t worry, for those of you who couldn’t go to the Green Lantern Panel, the trailer will probably be up very soon.

Entertainment Weekly: Green Lantern
Just in time for the San Diego Comic Con, Entertainment Weekly released it’s cover for the new Green Lantern movie starring Ryan Reynolds. This will sure to fan the flames of fandom all across the internet as well as the halls of Comic Con. If you look at the cover, there are also sneak peeks at Thor and Tron, perhaps the geek will inherit the Earth. A lot of big movies coming out, but will GL be the one ring to rule them all? What do you think?

Green Lantern production pics
MTV was able to get an image from the set of “Green Lantern” that, while it doesn’t show Reynolds in full-on costume, it does provide an indication of how that costume will be created for the big screen. Reynolds is seen zipping up a full motion-capture suit on the set of “Green Lantern,” indicating some heavy CGI could indeed be used to bring the DC hero’s emerald-hued costume to life. I hope that dog is not in the movie as a Green Lantern!

Green Lantern has the green light!
(Fan made costume, thank goodness!)
Green Lantern
Release Date: June 17, 2011
Studio: Warner Bros. Pictures
Director: Martin Campbell
Starring: Ryan Reynolds
Visual effects supervisor Karen Goulekas (The Day After Tomorrow, Spider-Man) has announced on her Blog that Green Lantern got the official green light yesterday (Wednesday) and that filming will start in 10 weeks sometime in March. A rushed production does not sound good. Martin Campbell, director of Goldeneye and Casino Royale, has been confirmed as director of the Green Lantern movie. A lot of great potential there if the script is right. Ryan Reynolds should be able to pull off the ‘emerald warrior’. There is also rumors that Jackie Earle Haley (Rorshach from the Watchmen) will play Sinestro. Superman is also rumored to make an appearance- I repeat, rumored. If DC can pull off another mega-hit like Dark Knight, Marvel/Disney will sure to be ‘green’ with envy.

Green Lantern: First Flight Review

I know that I mentioned last week that ‘Babbleon5’ would attend the Comic Con screening of this film, but 4 out of 5 of us will not be there tomorrow to watch the world premiere. Being the dedicated Babbler, I’ve watched the film and am offering my review a whole day early.
‘Green Lantern: First Flight’ was thoroughly enjoyable. DC has always been great at animating their characters into full-length features. ‘Justice League Unlimited’ was an example of a great series that offered exciting action as well as incredible depth in story. I have to say that my knowledge of the Green Lantern is slightly limited. I am familiar with Hal Jordan’s origin and his relationship with his former mentor, Sinestro. And I’ve probably only read one or two graphic novels from this mythos.
First Flight is definitely worth watching. You’ll find that there are quite a few ‘wow’ moments. At times I found myself cheering like I was a little kid again. Seeing either Hal connect a strong punch to the face or something awesome is emitted out of his ring gave reason to punch a fist into the air. This film is very simple, not a lot going on, but I would recommend checking this one out. 3.5 babbles out of 5

Side note: Victor Garber (Sinestro) absolutely shines in his role. I’ve been a long time fan of his work and his performance doesn’t disappoint.
Green Lantern: First Flight

2 years ago, Comic Con premiered DC’s ‘Superman: Doomsday’ Thurs. night before the big weekend and this year it will be showing ‘Green Lantern: First Flight’. Babbleon5 will plan to attend and provide an early review of the film before it’s DVD release the following Tues.
I thought ‘Batman: Gotham Knight’ was incredible and ‘Wonder Woman’ was fairly enjoyable, but I think that I’m most excited about seeing a Green Lantern story.
