Zoolander

Well Babblers, I have to admit I haven’t been to a lot of new movies lately, however, for your reading pleasure, here is a review of Zoolander. Now I know it has been out since 2001 but I just watched it again a couple nights ago and so it is I give you this hot-off-the-press review.

With a cast of Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Will Ferrell and even Jerry Stiller, this movie has stupid mindless humor written all over it, and yet, it is greatness. Stupid humor has its place, as long as it is well done, and Zoolander lives up to the expectations.

Ben Stiller plays male super model Derek Zoolander, who has been brainwashed into assassinating the Prime Minister of Malaysia in an attempt to keep textile workers wages down so the fashion industry can make more money. Not only that, but Derek has been THE dominate model for years and is now losing his game to the up and coming Hansel, played by Owen Wilson. The plot unfolds as the conspiracy is uncovered and the two must become friends while working to stop Mugato’s (Will Ferrell) from initiating the plan to kill the Prime Minister.

It is definitely absurd humor at its best, and while I prefer the wittier, dryer types of humor, this movie is still funny and worth watching and has its share of off beat humor.   It is also highly quotable, which goes a long way into the Babble rating.

Best scene? A gasoline fight that ends in freak tragedy.

Overall I give this movie 4 Babbles, after all, that Hansel is so hot right now.
