My favorite part of Disneyland was always the ‘Star Tours’ ride. However, the recent revamp has left me unsatisfied and a little disappointed..
There is A New Hope! Star Wars Land is coming to Anaheim and Orlando. Over 14 acres each, it’s Disney’s largest single themed land expansion ever. Disney’s goal, “transporting guests to a never-before-seen planet, a remote trading port and one of the last stops before wild space where Star Wars characters and their stories come to life.”
Bob Iger, Disney’s CEO, had this to say:
“I am thrilled to announce the next chapter in the long and exciting history between Disney Parks and Star Wars,” said Iger. “We are creating a jaw-dropping new world that represents our largest single themed land expansion ever. These new lands at Disneyland and Walt Disney World will transport guests to a whole new Star Wars planet, including an epic Star Wars adventure that puts you in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance.”

Captain America: The Winter Soldier releases April 4th, 2014.
Just when you thought the Star Wars title couldn’t get any more over marketed or dragged through the mud than it already is, leave it to George Lucas to find a way. George Lucas is selling Lucasfilm to Disney for 4 billion dollars. We repeat, Lucasfilm is being sold to Disney for 4 billion dollars. It gets worse. Of course Disney will come out with a whole slew of TV shows, toys and theme park rides around the Star Wars name but what is worse is that they are hoping to release a new Star Wars feature film every two or three years. That’s right, one of the most highly esteemed and famous movies franchise of our youth is being turned into an endless series of films playing off its name. Is this going to be like the James Bond series? Just crank out a movie every two or three years? We hope not. It does leave us asking such questions like: Will Mickey join the dark side? Is Minnie secretly his sister? Will Jar Jar have his own ride at Disney? If you don’t believe me here is the link.
Disney sent out an adorable Holiday e-card this morning:
If you haven’t seen the movie yet, drop everything and go NOW.
The Muppets spoof ‘The Hangover 2’ in their new Teaser Trailer!
Here is an official short film created by Disney that fills in some of the events immediately after TRON Legacy in preparation for the sequel.
After almost 30 years, TRON comes back online with TRON Legacy coming out in theaters tomorrow. As a product of the 80’s, I am one of the generation of nerds that was greatly impacted by the first ever computer generated adventure put out by Disney. TRON, ahead of its time in many ways, is arguably the most nerdiest movie ever. We are not talking about a fantastical story that happened a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. TRON happens inside a hard drive where programs fight other programs (does anyone remember Archon?) in a gladiatorial type 3-D world. That is about the geekiest thing I have ever heard of. I mean, this makes Star Wars and Star Trek nerds sound like varsity football players and super models. Anyways, the story… Continue reading
